A very nice hiking trail. Also you can overview the Boulder City from the edge of the Mesa.

This place is VERY cool. The US National Center for Atmospheric Research is located right at the base of the Flatirons in Boulder. Take the morning and visit their museum and from there head out onto the trails that take you into the Flatirons. This place has spectacular views with a welcoming learning experience. Great for kids and adults.

The National Center for Atmospheric Research, or NCAR, sits at the foothills of the Flatirons with a commanding view of Boulder and the surrounding front range area. Housed in an interesting looking building, there are hands-on displays (great for kids), extremely well done documentary films (great for kids and adults), static displays that teach about weather and climate, and how we as humans affect our environment. There are also some spectacular art pieces throughout that focus on science and our environment. There is NO charge for this museum, which is small, but fascinating. They do have guided tours at times, but you can do your own own.
