River boats are a great way to get in and out of central London and the closest stop is at the far end of Battersea Park, near the power station. (You can also travel upstream to Wandsworth and beyond). The boats cost a bit more than the train and it's not as fast, but they have cafes on board and you get to see the city from the river.
