If you're up for a drive, I highly recommend the Buffalo National River area. The west (upper river) side near Ponca is a great place for watching Elk in the evenings right by the highway. There are also nice views and trails all up the down the river. Let me know if you need some more information on it, or you can try the visitor's center off Highway 65.

All kinds of maps of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and more on the National Park. Lots of cool information about the area and the history as well.
