Check out the museum, but the real sights are outside-- the stinky black tar pits, plenty of grassy space, replicas of prehistoric creatures, and a view into an active dig site.

If you like visualizing what places were like when giant sloths roamed the earth, this is the joint for you. My favorite is the tragic woolly mammoth family tableau in the tar pit.

Excellent natural history museum, and home of the world-famous outdoor LaBrea Tar Pits -- plus a huge friendly outdoor park, popular especially on weekends.
