It's no longer the secret that it once was and it tends to be heaving on Friday & Saturday night if it's warm. The biggest nights tend to get booked out month's in advance, but there's usually a few tickets on the door. Great atmosphere, amazing soundsystem, and a garden. This is a proper club but if you're up for it, there's not many places better.
The only recommendation that isn't strictly local. This fantastic riverside pub is owned by British actor Sir Ian Mckellan. It's small and perfectly formed. There's nowhere better to enjoy a pint on a Sunday afternoon. If you're feeling fancy you could get the boat from London Bridge to Canary Wharf, and it's about a 10 minute stroll from there. It's slightly awkward location has ensured it's stayed off the main tourist route.

It's a cafe during the day but the best time to go is in the evening when it transforms into a super cool restaurant with live music and a great menu. Walworth road isn't beautiful but Louie Louie is well worth the trip. About a 25 minute walk from the house. And you can go through the park on a sunny evening!

Honestly pizza doesn't get much better than this (unless you're Italian..). Really reasonably priced and they also do jugs of beer and wine. Lovely atmos inside or you can order at the restaurant, have a beer at the Hermit's Cave next door and get a takeaway

Upmarket Italian on the increasingly glamorous Bellenden road. Very much a special treat restaurant but it does do brilliant Italian food. Slick, modern atmosphere and you'll probably need to book for dinner. There's a good value lunch menu.

Not to everyone's tastes, but if you want a feel for what gentrifying London looks like, Pop Brixton does have a great selection of small restaurants inside. Buzzing with Under 30s on a Friday and Saturday night, there's lots of small restaurants all under one roof. Unfortunately our favourite restaurant Kricket, a small indian in the market has recently closed.

A proper old school caf with excellent coffee, brilliant waiters and waitresses, and packed full of atmosphere, if you're looking for an English breakfast, I'd always recommend Terry's. Lovely park about a 10 minute walk from the flat. Always buzzy. Lots of Latino BBQs on the weekend and a melting pot of different nationalities. It's a brilliantly used park. Also great for running. You can jog there in 5 minutes from the flat and if you go under the underpass and around the perimeter it's about a 30-40 minute route altogether. Stop off at Fowlds for a coffee on the way home!

We always buy all our vegetables here. It's run by a lovely Greek family who have been in Camberwell for years and we love to support their business. Kind, and generous spirited they'll always let you off a few pence as long as you bring it back next time! A truly local grocers.

Probably the cheapest cinema in London! A stone's throw on the bus to Peckham or a 25 minute walk, there's always something on at Peckhamplex. It's not the most glamorous cinema but all tickets are £5 all day and all night.

If you're looking for an alternative to Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, Eltham Palace is quite special. It's about 45 minutes away - you'll need to jump on two buses and head South East but it's well worth the trip. The Art Deco house was built by the Courtald's in the 1930s.
