Picked it up the day beforehand and the salmon was still moist for dinner the next day.

If you're driving up from Boston to Mermaid House, here's a great tip!
Get off the Turnpike at Exit 19 instead of 32. Plug into GPS the address 1 Ross Road, Kennebunk which takes you to the oldest food truck in the USA (yes, really). It has the best LOBSTER ROLLS!! And nice, clean restrooms, too.
Just as you reach Route 1 (where you'll turn left onto US 1), you'll see the food truck on your right. The driving time to Mermaid House is exactly the same (as Exit 32) but you get a super nice perk!

Flat, very nice ~6 mile bike ride along the ocean from Mermaid House to Timber Point. At low tide, a land bridge (sand bar) is exposed so you walk ~1 mile across the rocks & land to explore Timber Island.
Non-bikers can drive to Timber Point and simply enjoy the walk.

The owners are SO incredibly nice. If you call them up, you can set up a time to come visit the alpacas and pet them. They usually have around ~40 alpacas. They are also always looking for volunteers so if you are interested in volunteering around a farm for a day and learning about some alpacas, these are your people!
