Our family loves this place. Amazing service - FAST!! Hot chips, fresh salsa and decent, good, filling Mexican food. Prices are extremely reasonable. All the locals go here.

A newly renovated old time favorite in Wartburg. You can get light meals and ice cream. It's a flashback-kinda spot where you can get the feel of the town's history. A few steps away is the local historical society.

This is located at the Brushy Mountain Penitentiary. The food is pretty good - BBQ, fries, and the like. Avoid 12 noon to 1:30 or high meal times as the lines can get long.

Oak Ridge is where the atomic bomb was made! Just 35 minutes from the house, this is a fascinating museum will tell you how the area was transformed during WWII into a secret city. Today Oak Ridge still houses the fast machine in the world!

Tour the historic prison and learn about famous prisoners that stayed there, like James Earl Ray who killed Martin Luther King Jr. Stay for shopping and lunch/dinner (note, go off hours to get lunch at the Warden's Table so you can avoid very long lines.)
