Neighbourhoods
The flat is located in a cross section known as Clarendon Cross - equidistant between the hub of Notting Hill and Holland Park - it really is the best of both worlds. Holland Park is my favourite London Park - just a 20 minute walk from the flat, past Holland Park Avenue where you can grab a coffee and walk to the park.

'High Street Ken' is parallel to the bottom side of Holland Park, so if you walk through Holland Park, you will reach High Street Ken which has a good selection of shops - Whole Foods is here, Decathlon for sporting items, there's a Zara, Boots (pharmacy), and lots of other larger shops.

Kensington High Street
Kensington High Street'High Street Ken' is parallel to the bottom side of Holland Park, so if you walk through Holland Park, you will reach High Street Ken which has a good selection of shops - Whole Foods is here, Decathlon for sporting items, there's a Zara, Boots (pharmacy), and lots of other larger shops.
Notting Hill has different areas, but the entry point is Notting Hill Gate - here there is a tube station which has many connections. Walk down to Holland Park Avenue, turn left up the hill and you will reach Notting Hill Gate. Look up Hillgate Village just behind the main road - lots of lovely restaurants, pubs and a big Saturday morning farmers market.

Westbourne Grove, a 15 minute walk from the flat, is the fancy bit of Notting Hill. There's Daylesford, great for picking up organic food, a lovely kitchenware shop below, and you can stop for a coffee. There's lots of small semi-high end shops for kids clothes, fashion, and lots of places to grab high quality food (Ottolenghi, Sally Clarkes, Notting Hill Fish Shop)

The Tube
The nearest tube stop is Holland Park (7 minute walk from flat) - this is on the Central Line (RED). If you need another line, walk to Notting Hill Gate to find Circle and District (YELLOW/ GREEN) - as well as the Central Line. it's quicker to walk to Notting Hill Gate than to take the Central from H.Park and change at Notting Hill Gate for the Circle and District. Unless it's raining!

The parks near the flat are the best in London for kids and adults:
Avondale Park (3 minutes walk - lots of things to climb)
Holland Park Adventure Playground (25 mins walk - wooded adventures)
Kensington Gardens - Diana Memorial Playground (30 minute walk - massive ship, lots to explore)
Check on KidSorted.com for masses of activities in the area - this is probably the best neighbourhood in London for activities.
Tennis in Holland Park- Join a class - see Courtfit.co.uk - book online and join a class - adults and kids.
Swimming - Kensington Leisure Centre (8 minute walk from flat)

9am - 1pm every Saturday behind Notting Hill Gate - extremely inexpensive eggs! Combine with a stop at the Hillgate Pub (one of my favourites)
