Beaches and Ponds

It’s a good idea to check the local tide charts for the best swimming conditions. Most people opt for high tide at the bay side beaches and low tide at the ocean beaches. (If you are walking/picnicking/hanging out at the beach then it doesn’t matter what the tide is as much.) Some beaches/ponds require parking stickers starting the 3rd week of June through Labor Day between 9am-5pm. (Walkers/bikers allowed at no charge.) Please check Wellfleet’s Town website for list of Town owned beaches and ponds and instructions on purchasing parking permits. https://www.wellfleet-ma.gov/beaches Beach Fire Permits and Parking Permits can now be purchased online: https://wellfleetstickers.townhall247.com/ Cape Cod National Seashore beach entrance fees are collected daily from late May through early September, and on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day to the middle of September at certain beaches. All passes (including the America the Beautiful series) are only sold during the months that the fees are collected. The six national seashore beaches where fees are collected are: Coast Guard and Nauset Light in Eastham, Marconi in Wellfleet, Head of the Meadow in Truro, and Race Point and Herring Cove in Provincetown.
