Brixton Village Market is a famous for its small (tiny!) restaurants serving incredible international cuisine. When it's busy (evenings, weekends) you'll be squished up with other foodies, but it's a great place to go for a cheap & delicious al-fresco lunch during the week. Being under cover, the market is still accessible when it's wet. Once you're full up, have a wander round the local arts & crafts stalls and absorb the feel-good vibes so prevalent in the area.
Don't miss the cod croquettes and goat curry at 'Fish, Wings & Tings', a brilliant, yellow-fronted Jamaican restaurant on the edge of the market. A vegan bakery is another highlight for those inclined!

A local favourite. Upstairs is a Blues music venue that keeps playing into the early hours.
Downstairs is plenty of intimate dining space, a long bar with original, metro tile & brick arches and red velvet booths.

Cool venue offering live music, comedy and club nights, plus 2-tiered garden terrace, serving pizza. The outdoor set up is great fun in the summer, but book tickets online first to make sure you get in.

There are lovely water features, plenty of green space, a new cafe, bikes to hire, and a giant gold Buddha with whom to reconnect to your Zen. Located along the river, it's also a lovely evening walk spot. Bikes in all incarnations are available to hire.

A favourite with local young families and young professionals, there are small independent restaurants lining the edge of the park, known as 'the pavement'. 'Tart' is my favourite of these...a small, owner-run breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea venue. Here you can discover for yourself, the middle ground between a pie and a quiche. Interesting & fresh salads abound too.
A gelato shop and a Christmas fairground are seasonal favourites.

Getting Around
The Victoria line is the newest of all the London Underground Lines and is a frequent, reliable line going straight into the middle of town, Oxford Circus being the most central stop. The Northern Line serves the City and Central London. A slightly less reliable line, it can be a bit slow and a bit hot but still very useable.

A great way to see the City, if you're feeling confident! Santander Cycles is London's bike hire scheme. £2 buys you 'access' for 24 hours. You take as many (up to) 30 minute trips as you like. Longer trips within the 24hours access time are charged extra. You can dock any Santander bike in any Santander Dock. Keep your eyes peeled for wandering pedestrians on their phones, respect the traffic, avoid rush hour unless you really know what you're doing, and stick to blue marked cycle lanes wherever possible!
