my local coffee shop within walking distance, they have decent food as well, a kid zone, and a completely separate 'study area' where talking/making noise is frowned upon. This place is closest, but the BEST coffee is Blueprint followed by Park Ave, both of which are nearby, albeit not walkable (meh, maybe Park Ave :)

Great place to get a good cocktail, especially whiskey. Fairly hip crowd in a young professionals night-life area (known as the Central West End or, "CWE"). Many, many, other bars nearby.

McGurk's is one of the best bars in Saint Louis, and certainly has the best patio. It has multiple areas, one of which always has live music from genuine Irish performers.
Always has a full crowd. Decent food as well. Crowd can be on the younger side at night, especially on Thursdays.

if you enjoy life on the water there is no better lake in the country (it was recently named the best lake in the whole country), only 2.5hrs away and has everything - peace and tranquility on the west end and bars and nightlife near the middle and east end
