City/town information
Manzanita is more upscale than Rockaway, and has nice restaurants, a large local grocery store FRESH FOODS, pet store, day spa, art galleries, wine bar, and a whiskey bar MacGregor's (get the Lobster Bisque!), a candy store, a tiny wine tasting "store", a great brunch place YOLK, and nice neighborhoods with beautiful pricier homes.

Sightseeing
This is my absolute favorite beach. The walk down through the old growth forest, streams, and little bridge is stunning, and the beach has a cave at one end and a waterfall at the other. This is also THE surf beach for all levels, and great for kids because there is a sand bar that keeps a large shallow area of water a little warmer than the freezing pacific!

Get fresh crab here, on the spot, or go crabbing and get your own! A very funky outdoor place to hang out, but fun to check out and Oregon has amazing crab.

Great Indian Food, beer & wine too, and great mango lassi! We eat here all the time and it's authentic Indian.

Slippers/cozy socks for house & warm clothes for beach
Rockaway can be chilly, especially on the beach, so a warm jacket and sweatshirt and even a scarf sometimes is recommended. In summer it doesn't grow dark until almost 10:30 so it is great to have a campfire on the beach and have warm clothes!

There is a DOLLAR GENERAL store here on the 101, with odds and ends, some beer and wine, some clothes, picnic and snack food (nothing great), toiletries etc, and that's it!
FRED MEYER in Tillamook (18 minutes South) is the largest store, or
FRESH FOODS in Manzanita (15 minutes North)
The food scene is mostly typical diner food, & taco truck, a Thai truck, and an Indian food truck that are pretty tasty. There are two ice cream stores, and in August our Rockaway Roastery will be open serving coffee/pastries/wine/beer/paninis & live entertainment!
