A village style resort in Kanadukathan, a heritage village. There are 8 air conditioned rooms with double or twin beds.
The rooms are designed like the homes in Chettinad villages.
Hand made Attangudi tiles have been used for flooring and the furniture in the room resembles those used in homes in the region. The rooms have an air conditioner and fan. The bathrooms are modern with shower with running hot and cold water.

The resort is located equidistantly about 1 ½ hours drive from Tanjore, Madurai and Trichy. And about 3 kms from the Tanjore – Madurai highway as also the Trichy – Rameswaram highway. The resort is surrounded by huge mansions.
Guests have access to most of the facilities of the famed sprawling Chettinad Mansion, just 5 minutes walk.
Guests can visit the Pillayarpatti Temple, Kundrakudi Temple (both about 10 mins. Drive) and do a day trip to Rameshwaram (which is about 3 hours drive).

Chettinad is the home of the Nattukottai Chettiars, a prosperous banking and business community and also for Nattar Vallambars - a feudal community. It is also known for its local cuisine, architecture, and religious temples.
The Chettinad region is well known for its 19th-century mansions, whose wide courtyards and spacious rooms are embellished with marble and teak. Construction materials, decorative items and furnishings were mostly imported from East Asian countries and Europe. The marble was brought from Italy, chandeliers and teak from Burma, crockery from Indonesia, crystals from Europe and wall-to-wall mirrors from Belgium.
Many of these mansions were built using a type of limestone known as karai. Local legend has it that the mansion walls were polished with a paste made out of egg whites to give them a smooth texture.
Kanadukathan is most famous for its Chettinad cuisine and for the architecture of its houses, whose main entrances are shaped to resemble those of temples.

In 2017 Deshadan has glued itself to nature with our new property on the foot hills of the Western Ghats , at Kanthaloor, an eco friendly resort built With mud, rocks, wood and hay.
