We will make Kimchi & scallion pancake (Pajeon) with dipping sauce. I will explain the culture/history of Kimchi, fermentation process, health benefits and storage tips.

  • List of ingredients below is for Kimchi + pancake class. Specific amounts will be provided after booking. If you booked special event class, separate ingredients list will be sent after booking. Please send me a message to see the list in advance
  • For Kimchi: Napa cabbage (or white cabbage), coarse (kosher) salt, sugar, Korean red chilli flakes ("Gochugaru"), apple, white onion, ginger, garlic, scallions/green onions, carrot, white flour (or rice flour), fish sauce or miso paste
  • For pancakes: cooking oil, scallions/green onions, flour, water, salt and sugar, fresh chilies (optional), mixed seafood (optional)
  • For pancake sauce: soy sauce, scallions, chilli pepper flakes, sesame oil (optional), sesame seeds (optional)
  • Equipment: 3 mixing bowls, chopping board and knife, food processor/blender, non-stick frying pan, sauce pan, spatula/mixing spoon, sterilized jam jars/pickling jars (or airtight food container)

Wan Jeong was very friendly and had given me a warm welcome. After a short introduction we started with the preparation. First we prepared the kimchi and then the scallions pancakes. Wan Jeong demonstrated every step and explained everything well and understandably, then I was allowed to try it out. She told me about the history and types of kimchi. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. My whole family (friend, parents and parents-in-law) were very happy with the food. I recommend Wan Jeong to anyone who wants to learn how to cook Korean and I will book another course soon. It was a unique experience.

In this special class, WJ taught us how to cook dishes beyond kimchi. I found another favorite Korean dish -- wanja jeong. It was very easy to make and my whole family loved it. WJ helped us through each step and shared how she grew up eating and loving this dish. Thank you, WJ, for teaching us special side dishes and for customizing the classes for our desires. Aloha!

This is the 3rd class I took from WJ. The sundoubu tofu stew was delicious! My family loves the tofu patties and the cucumber side dishes also. I am so thankful to be able to make and taste authentic Korean food during this Covid no travel time. WJ gives very detailed instructions and is a true expert. Another 5 star class and online experience!

We had a great time learning how to make Kimchi and Spring onion pancakes. Wan interacted with us a lot making sure we were following the right steps. The class was easy to follow as she had two cameras so we could see how she was making everything. It was a fun and friendly experience and has got us enthusiastic about learning more about Korean food. I would certainly recommend this lesson and will probably book another class with Wan.

This was an excellent experience, and great value. We made two delicious dishes and the instructions were very clear. Wan Jeong demonstrated everything clearly using a dual camera set up and she provided feedback on each stage of the guests’ progress to ensure we would have great results. I’m thrilled to have made my own kimchi, and I’ll be making it regularly from now on.

A very interactive session with the trainer. I have never thought that I could learn how to make kimchi via Zoom. It is so amazing on what technology can do for us. Wan Jeong was very patient and this made learning interesting.

Making Kimchi starts with salting the cabbage. This should be done two hours in advance. This is really easy and take only 5 minutes. Full instructions are provided in the welcome email.
