Walkable from downtown and Spanish Town, the "new" state capitol is a Art Deco masterpiece full of history. Check out the Huey P. Long statue on the park grounds or the nearby civil war barracks, original site of LSU.

The steps going up to the front of the Capital are in order of states joining the union! The view from the top gives an amazing view of Baton Rouge and the Mississippi River!

This is the New State Capitol where you can see the gardens and Huey Long statue, then go up top and see for miles and miles. Rumor has it you can see all the way to Slidell, LA from there!
