You can spend an entire day in the Old Port sightseeing, shopping & eating. The thirsty pig is a go to lunch spot with the kids.
The whole city of Portland is a foodie paradise. Seriously, you can look it up. I really like Grace but there are many other wonderful choices for restaurants. It also has great shopping and museums. If you have a rainy day with kiddos check out the Maine Children’s Museum. It is great.
Brick buildings and cobblestone streets lend to the Old Port's charm. Does it get touristy? Absolutely. Is it worth checking out? Absolutely.
This charming area features cobblestone streets, lots of shops and restaurants and an accessible working waterfront.

“Spectacular views. It would be hard to find a better spot in Portland—or maybe even in the whole state of Maine—to take in a sea breeze, a harbor view, and an endless parade of boats than the DiMillo’s foredeck. This is literally a floating restaurant on an old ferry boat! If you pay close attention you can feel the rocking from the water below as they serve some of your favorite Maine classics like clam chowder, lobster rolls, and Chef Melissa’s fan favorite, the Lobster Stuffed Twice Baked Potato! In December 1982, “DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant” opened her doors and became the only floating restaurant on the upper East Coast. Today, Tony’s wife, sisters, and sons continue to maintain the high standards he established over 40 years ago. There is always a DiMillo on board. FREE parking too! Bring your parking ticket to the host for validation.”

“Andy Warhol, Claude Monet and Winslow Homer are among the icons showcased within the Portland Museum of Art. Along with some of the greats, the museum features an extensive collection of American, European and contemporary works, as well as pieces from Maine artists. Paintings abound, but you'll also find photographs, sketches, pottery, furniture, ornate silverware, sculptures and so much more. ”

“Get there early and enjoy the sunset as you dine over the Scarborough Marsh. As the tides change, so do the local clam diggers and kayakers”

“Stunning views, a lighthouse, trails, picnic area, and a casual seafood place. The quintessential Maine experience. ”

“Great for a rainy day. It's about 40 mins. North to Portland, but it's a brand new museum and very fun, interactive, and educational. Afterward, you can hit the local brewery (Bissell Brothers) which is also in Thompson's Point. If you go in the summertime and on a Thursday evening there are food trucks everywhere!”
