A unique traditional Greek village of the Mani area reachable by road. The route scenery is compensating you for the half an hour drive from my home. You can experience them wild rocky mountain of Taygetos meeting the step sea coastline views coupled with amazing castles along the way! It is definitely worth visiting!

Food scene
This is my favourite place of dinning. It is a traditional Greek food restaurant with a variety of mouthwatering generous portion dishes at very reasonable prices.
Favourite for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
Sotiris taverna is in the village of Megali Mantineia situated on the hill above Akrogiali and it has with amazing views to the Messenian bay! It’s within minutes driving distance.
Alternatively, freshly cooked dishes can be delivered at your doorstep!

Sightseeing
The Railway park has a somewhat sad feel to it, with several rusting engines and a few carriages, but it is fun to wander around (and above on a footbridge). Very nostalgic feel and worth a visit when strolling from the centre of town to the beach or port.

This little church dates fro the 11th century. It holds a lot of history for the city of Kalamata: On the 23rd March 1821 in front of the church of Agios Apostolos and in a festive atmosphere, the priests bless the flags and swear allegiance to the Greek revolutionary fighters. Kalamata became the first city to be liberated from the Ottoman Empire. Go check it out!

The Church of Agioi Apostoloi
This little church dates fro the 11th century. It holds a lot of history for the city of Kalamata: On the 23rd March 1821 in front of the church of Agios Apostolos and in a festive atmosphere, the priests bless the flags and swear allegiance to the Greek revolutionary fighters. Kalamata became the first city to be liberated from the Ottoman Empire. Go check it out!
