Another favorite of Tom Hanks, the Shrimp Shack has been a staple for both local and visitors in Beaufort for over 37 years. Locally owned and operated by the same family since the beginning, the Shrimp Shack has one of the best shrimp burgers you can have. Founded by Bob and Hilda Upton in the seventies, today it is operated by their daughters Julie and Hilda. Made-to-order fried shrimp, shrimp burgers, crab cakes, flounder, clams, scallops, and even fried chicken is available, and the Shrimp Shack’s loyal and friendly staff will be delighted to make recommendations. Located at 1925 Sea Island Parkway, the Shack opens daily at 11 am and usually stays open until 2 pm, but you may want to call ahead to make sure. Their phone number is 843-838-2962.
