Newfields is not just an art museum, it's an experience. The museum itself features unique, interesting, and well thought out exhibits. The museum grounds are stunning and beautiful, with carefully planned gardens that are constantly changing. While not everyone thinks of an art museum as a place for family, Newfields has a lot to offer young children as well.
Plan plenty of time for a visit to Newfields. After touring the indoor exhibits, you might want to enjoy a picnic in the gardens. Don't miss the Beergarten, which is located next to the greenhouse and serves ever-changing local brews. The Lily House (admission included with museum tickets) is also a must-see, and is loved by imaginative children. You can also check out the Virginia Fairbanks Art and Nature Park nearby for some larger than life interactive sculptures the kids are sure to love.
