Food Scene
This is a seriously decadent bakery& restaurant owned by French chef Phillipe Rispoli only 8 minutes from the house. We love to go here for French pastries in the morning (but be prepared for an insane line - so get there EARLY!). They also have amazing dinners.
We recommend:
- "The Breakfast Special"
- "The "Lunch Special": a salad, a delicious French sandwich, a scrumptious dessert and a glass of wine - for only $15!

Oh yes. If the kids (or you) need some ice cream, this is just a 3-minute drive away! It's not fancy or overly memorable... just a simple little roadside ice cream counter (though they do have food and indoor seating) that's closeby and convenient when you need a sweet tooth fix.

AWESOME little tiny sandwich shop - a Wellfleet institution. Often packed, but definitely worth it. Yummy sandwiches of all kinds. Our kids love the sandwiches here!

This is an iconic restaurant, bar and night spot. It seems like you can travel anywhere and bump into someone wearing a “Beachcomber” t-shirt. The food is simple but good and they have live music at night - can get pretty rowdy. But the best thing about this spot is the location - it’s an old life-saving service station, perched atop the grand dunes of Cahoon Hollow Beach.

This is our "go-to" ocean beach. Just an 8-minute drive from the house. You will need a beach sticker from the Town of Wellfleet in the summer high season!

This hike can be anywhere from just a mile to 7 or 8 miles, depending on what you're in the mood for. Interesting and scenic. You can visit the site of an old sailors' tavern in the 1700s! (though nothing visible remains now) There are a couple of longer stretches along the hike with no tree cover, so there can be lots of sun exposure. Bring sunblock and water!

Entertainment & Activities
One of the few remaining classic drive-ins in the US. This place is a blast. Check out a double-feature! There is also a regular movie theater here if you don't want to do the drive-in (but why wouldn't you?!).

If you're looking for a local yoga studio, this is a great place in a wonderful location: in a really cool old building right on Wellfleet Harbor.

Sightseeing
This picturesque wooden bridge connects Lieutenant Island to the mainland and makes a for nice walk from the house. At high tide, water covers the road! It makes for a unique swim for kids - but be sure to not get stuck on the other side of the island with your car (otherwise you just have to wait for the tide to drop).

It's always fun to park your car and walk out on the Town Pier and look at the old fishing boats. Plus there are beautiful views across Wellfleet Harbor to Great Island. This is classic Wellfleet!

Such a cool little footbridge spanning the upper reach of Wellfleet Harbor. It's a great place to walk across, over to Cannon Hill. An iconic Wellfleet scene.
