A great little market for coffee, fresh baked goods, eggs, fresh bread, local fish, cheese etc.
They also have an amazing wine selection along with great hand-crafted ales.

Low-key BBQ joint just up the road in Freeport. Buck's is also great if you have large groups, or kids in tow.

One of our favorite places to eat in Portland. Owned by sushi chef, Masa Miyake, Pai Men features amazing japanese noodles, delicious pork buns and a big selection of local beers on tap.

Best italian (true italian) around. The owner and his wife moved to Portland a few years ago from Italy and set-up shop in downtown Portland.
Their lasagna is amazing!

Great take on chinese food (a lot like Red Farm in New York City's West Village). Try the bacon fried rice and the lobster dumplings. Ask for Todd Bernard. He's a friend and manages the place.

This is where we go for our local lobster rolls. Located on an estuary minutes from our home. Not cheap, but not many lobster rolls anywhere are cheap. Overall, great spot for a roll.

This is a super close, and beautiful place to go for a walk anytime of year. Nature preserve forest weaving along tidal marshes. Can't beat it.

One of the best "easy" hikes around. Winding trails, and gradual uphill makes this a perfect spot for family hike. Never crowded and the views from the top are stunning. Well worth it!

Best in the Winter Time: Some of the best snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing around. Hundreds of groomed acres. They rent you all the gear, have a local, farm-to-table store for sandwiches, etc.

One of the nicest beaches and only about 20 minutes drive south from our home. Great sandy beach, warm tidal flow water. Awesome for kids.

One of our favorite day-trips. Take the ferry out and have lunch and walk around this amazing Maine Island located in Casco Bay - it's owned by a local family and well worth the trip.

This little gem tucked off of Main St. in Yarmouth boasts a wide an outdoor collection of antique trucks that is open for children (and adults) to explore and play on. Their hours are a little strange, but usually open 10am to 2pm. Our kids love this place!
