Charming custom log home in the woods, with over 200' of private frontage on the Little Manistee River - a blue ribbon trout stream. The cabin is located in a natural unspoiled area full of activities for outdoor sports enthusiasts. This area is known for its excellent fly fishing, paddling, hunting, off-roading, hiking, bird watching and unique, off-the-beaten path quality. At the same time, it is close to beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan. Enjoy bonfires and lots of wildlife.

This beautiful custom log home is in Lake County, Michigan, on three and a half wooded acres. The property includes over 200' of private frontage on the Little Manistee River, a blue-ribbon trout stream. It has a great room with vaulted ceiling, wood-burning stove and plenty of wood. A modern but cabin-like kitchen is open to the great room and fully equipped. The kitchen also opens to the spacious dining room and has a breakfast bar. The dining room is surrounded by windows looking out over the woods and wildlife. There is a modern indoor bathroom and also a cute little outhouse. One bedroom downstairs, with choice of two twin beds or one king. The cabin also has a big loft, accessible from a unique, hand-crafted circular staircase. The loft holds two full-size beds and a twin. Next to the kitchen on the other side is a screened-in porch where you can watch the birds with your coffee in the morning. Around the cabin is a huge wrap-around porch big enough to host a party on. Access to your private frontage on the Little Manistee River is down a short path through the woods. There are two fire pits -- one by the cabin and one by the river. The Little Manistee is a blue-ribbon trout stream and one of more than 45 rivers and trout streams in Lake County. Lake County is also home to more than 156 lakes and 175,000 acres of public State and Federal land. In the middle of over 350 miles of snowmobile and off-roading trails, most of them groomed in the winter.

The cabin is in a rural, wooded area through which the Little Manistee River (upon which we have 200' of private frontage) flows, with Clancy Creek just across the road at the end of about 40 acres of public wooded land. There are pine and hardwood forests, including the Manistee National Forest, miles of ORV and snowmobile trails accessible within minutes from the cabin, view of forest across the country road, neighbors on the right separated by stands of trees and scattered cabins on the left, also separated by woods. A walk or a drive will take you deep into the woods for hiking, foraging for morel mushrooms and other Michigan wild edibles and flowers, 175,000 acres of public state and federal land and 165 + lakes in Lake County alone. Twelve miles from Baldwin or Dublin, 35 miles to Mesick, home of the annual Michigan Morel Mushroom festival, and a quick 50+ miles to Traverse City. Lake Michigan is approximately 25 miles away in Ludington, or 40 miles away in Manistee, with easy day trips up or down the shoreline to beautiful local beaches and to Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Club 37 is just one mile south on M 37. Both have excellent food, especially burgers and prime rib. I'm from Chicago and the prime rib in this rural Michigan neighborhood can hold its own with or even surpass the excellent prime rib found in Chicago! Barski, around 9 miles south, has outstanding food made from scratch and is a must. The Monte Cristo is unbelievable. Dave's Riverside Cafe is a couple blocks off the main street in Baldwin, on the Baldwin River. Outside seating only. This little take-out place, open during the daytime in the warmer months, is a GEM. Excellent giant smoked pork chop! Remarkable to find Italian beef sandwiches as close to those from Chicago as I've ever found in Michigan. Great burgers, sausage, enormous orders of first-rate french fries!

My fiance, Brad, and I, are co-hosts of our guests at the Storybook Log Cabin on the Little Manistee River. We are both native Michiganders who went to school together in Northville from kindergarten through high school, lost touch over the years, and miraculously found each other a year ago. It was love at first sight! We share a love of the outdoors, and a particular love for this cabin. We enjoy fishing, hiking, paddling, gardening, swimming, rock hunting, traveling, bird watching, snowmobiling, skiing, camping, hunting - even flying kites! Brad has been a firefighter for over 40 years. I am a former attorney.

We love hosting guests at the cabin. This area is known unofficially as "River Country" because of the number of pristine, blue-ribbon trout streams that make it a destination area for fly fishing and paddling enthusiasts. In addition to the remarkable rivers and streams, we are surrounded by ov (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) acres of state and federal land, with the Manistee National Forest and the Pere Marquette State Forest within walking distance of the cabin. The North Country Trail (the east/west equivalent of the Appalachian Trail), is about 4,600 miles long and goes right up through Michigan, with several trailheads within an easy distance from the cabin. Countless other hiking trails can be found in this area!

One of our favorite things about the area is its proximity to Lake Michigan. It is easy to get to Ludington or Manistee for a day trip to the beach. There are other, lesser known beaches between those two cities that are also less than an hour away and really breathtaking.

Day trips can be made to Traverse City, the Leelenau Peninsula, Interlochen, and even Sleeping Bear Dunes.

There are two quite excellent ski resorts close by, and hundreds of miles of ORV trails just a couple hundred yards from the front door of the cabin.

It makes us very happy to share the cabin and the area with guests, and to help them enjoy the hidden gems around here as much as we do. Life memories are made here. Although we are available to help with advice, or to visit, we leave it up to the guests as to whether they wish to interact while they are here (unless we need to stop by and plow during a blizzard or for some other safety concerns).

We believe in positive energy. We enjoy people. We believe pets are part of the family and we do not charge extra when they visit! The Michigan forests, inland waterways, farmland, wildlife and Great Lakes are incredible gifts. We are grateful for the chance to share life with one another, and to share the endless opportunities to learn together and to experience life in this great State of Michigan.
