This One bedroom with a loft home is ideally located in South Denver near University of Denver, and an easy light rail ride to the Denver Tech Center and Downtown Denver, near grocery stores, restaurants, bike rental and an easy drive to ski resorts. This was my grandmother’s home and was built in 1940. It was originally a postal station! From the inside the high ceilings of the loft, large windows and skylights fill the home with sunlight.
The house sits back off the street and the front door is actually at the rear of the house! The patio is private and surrounded by the garden and much foliage.

The house includes one bedroom, a loft which has a fold out futon and can be used as a second bedroom, a patio and an open concept kitchen/dining/living area. Softwood (Fir) floors create a natural earthen beauty. Sleeps one to four comfortably. Master bedroom: queen-sized bed; Loft includes a desk and a full sized fold out couch-futon. Open Concept Kitchen/Dining/Living Area; NOTE: The Bathroom is small but with tub/shower, and all the basics.

Central heat and air conditioning.

On street parking which is ample and always available.

No Tobacco smokers please, inside or outside of the home. Very strict non-smoking policy of recreational marijuana anywhere but outside AND NO DRUGS of any kind are allowed in the home. This includes MJ due to the smell. Non-compliance will compromise your deposit. If you do partake, I strongly request that you are discrete and considerate of my elder neighbors. NO PARTIES are allowed.

As this home was built in 1940, it has it’s own personality! There is a notebook on the living room table that tells you about the house quirks and what to do in case of an emergency.

While I strive to be available by telephone at all times, I want you to be sure to check the house notes when you arrive.

There is not a telephone at Rae's house. If you do not have a cell phone and believe you will need a phone during your stay we suggest that you purchase a disposable phone for your trip.

The house does have a high speed connection to the internet.

Though located in central Denver the area is quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
The home is considered to be part of “University Park” due it’s proximity (6 blocks) to Denver University, and there are two wonderful parks located near-by:

Observatory Park: 2 blocks away. Visitors can follow in a long tradition, begun on August 1, 1894, by attending Public Nights at the historic Chamberlin Observatory, Observatory Park, Denver, Colorado. You can listen to lectures about astronomy, and if weather permits, view the night sky through the 20-inch Alvan Clark-Saegmuller telescope. In addition, the Denver Astronomical Society also hosts an Open House each month.

Washington Park: I am one mile from Washington Park, one of Denver's finest parks, known as Wash Park for short. Washington Park neighborhood is often compared to "Mayberry". It is Denver's first suburb and until the 1950s a trolly car ran from downtown to the Old South Gaylord Street's bustling retail area (located one mile northwest).
Its 160 acres encompass several gardens, large open green areas, one of the most popular running trails in Denver. and three ponds (one of which is a children’s fishing pond). Paddle boats and bikes are available to rent. Jogging paths, tennis and bocce courts can be used for your enjoyment.

Near Wash Park is Old South Gaylord Street retail area which includes several excellent restaurants: Washington Park Grill, Max’s and Reiver's to name a few. The Devil’s Food Bakery, art galleries, original boutiques and gift shops are worth a look. The Tended Thicket is not to be missed, if you are gardener or just love gift giving.

Wash Park neighborhood is a very safe and lovely area for a stroll, the people are friendly and there are many shop and restaurants within walking distance.

In addition to the historic business district of Old South Gaylord, the home is less than 2 miles from Old South Pearl Street. Another popular place for dining – incuding one of the best Sushi Restaurants in the US, shopping, farmer’s market on Sundays, and evening coffee or strolls.

Due northwest, (1 mile) is the Bonnie Brae retail area including the beloved Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. The Bonnie Brae retail area also has a liquor store, gas station, library, dry cleaners, more restaurants and a French bakery.

Denver Metro: Denver University (1/2 mile), Cherry Creek Shopping District ( 2 miles), Downtown and Larimer Square (5 miles), Performing Arts Center (5 miles), Denver Zoo, Museum of Natural History, the Denver Art Museum and the Golden Triangle (4 miles), Denver Botanical Gardens (3+ miles) and more… Coors Field, Bronco Stadium, Tech Center, Elitch’s Amusement Park…easy access to the light rail stations and citywide bike paths.
If you are visiting during the winter months, the major ski resorts are within a couple of hours by car. During the summer months the ski resorts are now providing trail bike riding.

I encourage my guests to contact me immediately with any questions or concerns. I may be at the home from time to time in the summer to water patio plants but will do my best to give you a heads up. PLEASE, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about your privacy. There may be gardeners/mowers on the property in the spring, summer and fall usually mid-day.

Maid service can be requested at an additional fee.
