Charming tucked away cottage located two blocks from the historic district with restaurants and shops, less than a mile to Marshall Hospital This little place has a fully equipped kitchen, full refrigerator, stove, microwave, lots of windows all around, lovely patio with seating and small private gated garden area. Cable TV, high speed internet, individual heat. Just might be your always go to retreat.

Having a personal and cozy little place that is all yours, not a hotel but living in an historic town with a two block walk into history, shops, restaurants No better way to start an adventure, working away, retreat, or getting out in the Sierras, exploring history, wineries, apple farms, skiing, getting into the holiday spirit or meeting up with friends or family. Working away? fast Internet and plenty of work space, then, a quiet garden to retreat into.

The Wild Plum is perfectly perched above town, only two blocks to Old Downtown Main Street, shopping, restaurants, espresso spots, historical sites, Swimming pool, parks, hospital and farmer's markets. Better yet, we are on a very quiet short street. It is good to note that the word "perched" was used: we are uphill from town and the short walk can be invigorating.

Hwy 50 and Main Street are little more than a block away, as the crow flys Walking to town makes enjoying the freedom from hoping in the car perfect if you want to limit vehicular travel

The Wild Plum has a single wall adjoining the main home - has it's own separate space with a private entrance and quiet seclusion. This property, with its gardens was the the talk of the town when it was built in the 60s. A short walk brings you to shops and restaurants of downtown .

The Wild Plum is a comfortable but small one bedroom apartment with a Queen bed, individual heat and air control, ceiling fan, breakfast bar and plenty of storage. Wireless is available and cable TV. You can take your morning cup and sit on the patio during warm weather and wake up slowly or maybe enjoy a walk to Totem or Centro for a bit of town as your morning walk up

There are two other Airbnb private accommodations available at this location if you are traveling with others who would like to enjoy their own space in proximity.

Historic Placerville sprang into being with the largest human migration in world history: the Gold Rush of 1849. It was a rough wild place back then and, for a short time, was named ‘Hang Town’. There are many reminders of that history everywhere you look but now you'll also find hundreds of Gold Country Award Winning Wineries, excellent restaurants, and quaint Shops (don't miss Placerville Hardware - oldest west of the Mississippi), history, wildlife (of all kinds) and just the breathtaking beauty of the Sierras (we are 45 minutes from skiing at Sierra at Tahoe and closer yet for snowshoeing. As a backcountry enthusiast, I will gladly share my favorite places to go. Lake Tahoe or Desolation wilderness are an hour and 15 min away

There are wonderful places to eat in Placerville and you can walk to all of them all. For dinner I particularly like The Independent (best all around), Hey Day ( fun and excellent fare with a wonderful wine list), Cascada (very good upscale Mexican/full bar). My favorite for organic espresso and light breakfast fare with some gluten free selections and a coffee bar’s relaxed atmosphere is Totem., especially since it is a short morning walk away
Sweetie Pie's is an all time favorite of Placervillians and visited for breakfast.

WINE
While the California wine industry started here in the late 1800s , a blight nearly wiped it out by 1900 but in the last 30 years scores of fantastic winners has sprung up in the surrounding area best known for barbaras and zinfandels. Reminiscent of Napa/Sonoma 40 years ago, most often you will be served by the winemaker and with no charge for tasting The are small intimate wineries, some amazing beautiful grand ones with everything in between. Boeger Winery is 2 miles away and a good place to start.

APPLE HILL
Placerville is the gateway to Apple Hill. From mid August to December apple orchards open to visitors Some, like High Hill Ranch, offer everything Apple and then some (including a stocked pond for trout fishing) other, smaller farms are more specialized during their busy season, it is best to avoid crowds by planing mid week or a morning start to the adventure

I love living in the Sierras, hiking, snow skiing, rafting and all the activities around Placerville. I am equally happy exploring the wine country (too many wonderfully wineries to count) and the old gold mining towns along the old 49er route. More than that I like to share all that is here with others. It is my pleasure to make your stay a relaxing and comfortable base, whether it is just a hideaway or an adventure you are looking for. Having owned a restaurant/hotel and loving it, I think this intimate space is the best idea yet. Traveling off the beaten path and discovering the unexpected while enjoying the creature comforts, at the same time - adventure from a secure known place, is my preference. Thats what i like most about Airbnb: you have a recommended contact, someone who is there to welcome you and give guidance, if you want.

I'm just a bit of an introvert and respect your privacy but also love and enjoy people - so I am happy to have you stay with as much or as little of me as you prefer.

Maui has been home, as Chico, Del Rio, and England have been. I have travelled Europe, Mexico and a fair part of the US but my favorite travel is slow, staying in one place and getting to know the people and the community over a longer period of time. My hope you will feel comfortable and welcomed in this special accommodation, no matter how long you get to stay. I hope you will feel at home and welcomed into the community with just the right amount of adventure that suits you, too..
