*Book 2 nights get 3rd free - * Our little house is on a 25 acre farm with its own river & bogland, tucked down a sleepy country lane with loads of open space for kids to let loose & explore. The peninsula is surrounded by the Wild Atlantic Way on all sides and is the perfect base to explore the entire north west coastline.

National Geographic called Inishowen the jewel in the Donegal Crown and named the county coolest place on earth (ahead of Peru, Canada, India, South Africa and New Zealand)!

Setting:
This is the perfect setting to slow down, escape from the world and unwind. Living in the Inishowen countryside is carefree beyond words - it would be such a waste to travel this far and base yourself on the edge of a town. (It is not in total wilderness but it is certainly not town living if that's what you are looking for.)

At our place you'll wake up to the sound of silence - broken by bird song in the morning, sheep calling to their lambs in spring, or a tractor pottering along in the distance. It's impossible to describe the sense of calm that comes over you after a couple days here.

We have guests - now friends - who come back again and again after finding us once by accident. We are a warm, friendly and accommodating family that gets a kick out of opening our home and contributing in a small way to your big adventure. We have been on the Inishowen coast for generations and originally came from a tiny Island off Malin Head.

Superheats:
We also do Airbnb in Dublin, where we live most of the time, so read what over 200 other guests have written about us.

Hosted or entire house:
Have the whole house to yourself, or a hosted experience during summer weekends. Just tell us which option you prefer - we are happy to stay and make breakfast, or hand over the keys and disappear.

"No bother" is the Inishowen catchphrase - we want you to have a wonderful trip tailored specifically to your needs.

House:
You have the entire downstairs to enjoy and are welcome to wander around the fields once you close the gates so the sheep don't escape. The river - which is a little stream really - is lovely to explore and hang out in too. There is plenty of room to pitch tents also if the kids would get a kick out of that. The place is safe, secure and private.

Wood burning pizza oven:
Summer 2018 Ronan built an amazing wood burning pizza oven outside. It makes the most amazing pizza you've ever tasted. We hang out there in the evenings and the heat coming off it after we're stuffed is fantastic.

The house itself is cosy, clean and well cared-for and summer 2017 guest rooms were refurbished. It's centrally heated by oil and also has a fire-place in the living-room.

The living-room is relaxing with plenty of seating (sofa, rocking chair). The kitchen is modest with a dining table for 4-5 and plenty of crockery.

Cooking:
The utility room leads to the back door and is kitted out for preparing meals. There is a gas hob, an electric oven and a large microwave. There are plenty of pots, pans and oven dishes.

We have an under-counter fridge and a washing machine. Drying is the old fashioned way, on a clothes line outside the back door. Wait until you smell your clothes dried by clean country air. Tip, don't bother with fabric conditioner.

During winter months (when we're not here) our neighbour puts the heat on a day before you arrive so it's toasty for your arrival.

Sleeping:
Your bedrooms are both downstairs. The first has a giant double bed and is at the front of the house. Your second bedroom has a double & a single - handy when there are extra kids along.

(There are extra fold-out beds on the landing upstairs which can be set up in the living room.)

There are plenty of bedspreads, sheets, pillows and throws.

Just so you know: this is a family escape so there are family things here and there, so it feels lived-in rather than a minimalist (aka souless) rental.

Note:
It is a 4 bedroom house but we list it as 2 bedroom because only downstairs rooms are decorated to guest standard. Upstairs rooms are are not available to guests at this time.

Digital detox:
There is no WIFI and sketchy mobile signal right across the Peninsula. That is part of the charm - a couple days unplugged shows you just how much we're missing with our heads buried in a mobile screen.

The house is cozy and a great place to spend a winter weekend enjoying life's simple pleasures with friends. Or in spring & autumn around the fire-pit outside after dark.

Nature:
The area is a walker's paradise. Boreens or hill walks are plentiful and in winter you've a good chance of catching the Aura Borealis from the coast. There are local websites which indicate the best times to see it.

A guest recently enquired about playing the piano: sadly it is out of tune and needs a lot of refurbishment. That won't happen before end of the year I'm afraid.

Doagh Famine Village is well worth a visit. Very quirky. Much more entertaining than it might sound.

The area is a haven for Golf lovers too. Check out Ballyliffin 20 min) and Buncrana (35 min).

In the summer you're rarely be inside. The peninsula is surrounded by blue flag beaches: Culdaff, Five Fingers Strand and Kinnego Bay are all breathtaking.

And in summer the sky never goes fully dark being this far north.

Highly recommended:

Great area for those who love walking. Head down to the bridge, turn right down the little road and continue on a loop that takes you back to base. Or go straight after the bridge and head up the hill road. From there the views of the whole valley are fantastic and you'll be able to see lots of the coast.

Каде ќе бидете

Gleneely, Donegal, Ирска

The farm is set in a rural area with not so many houses and plenty of places to go walking and exploring.

The nearest village is 3 miles away so you will need a car.

Big supermarkets (like Supervalu) are 6 miles (10km) away and are well very stocked with anything you need.

Derry City is about 35 mins drive and makes for a great day-trip.

Greencastle fishing port has a great chowder place.

Malin Head is 30 mins in the other direction (Star Wars have been filming the next installment there this summer); The Five Fingers Strand cannot be missed; Trawbrega Bay will take your breath away.

The Isle of Doagh Famine Experience museum (between Carndonagh and Ballyliffin) is famous and quirky; Ballyliffin, Redcastle and Buncrana all have great golf courses;

Malin Head is the place to head for Sea Angling; do not go home without visiting Kinnego Bay where part of the Spanish Armada shipwrecked.

I'm a pretty upbeat, enthusiastic guy who get's along with just about anyone. I admire people who aren't afraid to dream big and have a positive impact on everyone they come into contact with. I love Music Festivals (Electric Picnic, Body & soul), Art, Architecture and exploring off the beaten path. Fan of User-Experience (software, exhibitions, spaces), interested in tech startups, aim to go through life learning something new every day. So far so good. I love the Wild Atlantic Way coast ...a spectacular rugged stretch of coastline inhabited by the friendliest people in Ireland. Now I'm living in the thick of central minutes stroll to the main social hub around Dame St / South William St and I'm (very slowly) restoring an old country house built in the mid-1800s in Ireland's rural lake-district.

За време на престојот

We'll meet you ourselves or when we are not here our neighbour will give you the key to the gate and just let yourself in.

It's a really friendly area so don't be surprised if one of our neighbours sees you out walking and stops for a chat.
