Crystal Creek Canyon Lodge is a very special 1850s hand-hewn Norwegian log cabin that has been lovingly relocated and reassembled atop a private road on a 10-acre parcel. The cabin provides great Driftless Minnesota views, solitude, and nearby access to the Root River Bike Trail. It's moments from Houston, MN and just 17 miles from La Crosse, WI. It's best for couples, artists/writers, and solo adventurers. Due to ladder access to upper & lower levels, we are not allowing children at this time.

Everything about this cabin is unique! Both its thoughtful (re)construction and location make this an ideal spot for getaways. The interior is cozy, clean, and comfortable. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed located on the main level. Off the master is a separate office space. Two more double beds are on the second level (accessible by ladder-style stairway).
The porch views are gorgeous from morning to evening, too. There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching and you're guaranteed to hear wild turkeys in the a.m., and coyotes in the evening.
The bathroom on the main level is a favorite spot where you can lounge in the tub and listen to the birds from outside through two small windows that also provide a calm breeze.
We don't have photos of it up yet, but there is a separate spacious artist work studio that is available on the property making this incredibly ideal for an artist or writer's retreat! (Photos to come!)

All three levels are open to you, but note that the upper is only accessible via ladder (as pictured). Please understand that use is at your own risk. This is why we aren't allowing children, actually. The lower has the second bathroom and shower option and can be accessed from the rear of the property or via another solid ladder-style stairwell.
We're also always adding new pieces of interest to the cabin, including furnishings, artwork, kitchen materials, and other odds and ends to make this a great getaway location. We're still quite new to the place ourselves and we're definitely in the process of developing it to make it our own! We desire guests that will be respectful of the overall space and and these hand-selected objects that make this place so special. Please be considerate of these items, handle them with care, and do not remove them from the home!
Finally, because this is our home, we prefer to accept guests with previous positive reviews. If you are new to airbnb, please tell us a little bit about you and your plans for your stay so that we can get to know you! We've found that some are uncomfortable with this, and if so, we may not be the right choice for you.
Please note: Also, because this is our home, you will find some food in our fridge and in the cupboards. It isn't staged as a guest rental and is loved and lived in, yet clean and maintained for our guests. You're welcome to anything during your stay! Thank you for your consideration and understanding!

From our driveway, there is a somewhat steep descent down to the cabin, and of course an incline on the return trip back up. Folks with mobility limitations and/or concerns will want to consider this before booking. While we are on a 10-acre plot, the majority of our land goes straight up the bluff. In each direction, there is private acreage owned by our neighbors. While they look amazing to explore, there are visible fence lines that cannot be crossed. Thanks!
