Who can participate in this program?

As a referrer, you must meet the following requirements:

• Have completed at least one booking on Airbnb.
• Have completed Airbnb’s identity verification process.
• Be a resident of mainland China, Germany, Japan, Italy, or Mexico.
• Have no records of fraud or other misconduct on Airbnb.

The friends you refer must meet the following requirements:

• Not have an existing Airbnb account.
• Register for a new Airbnb account using the invitation link.
• Be a resident of mainland China, Germany, Japan, Italy, or Mexico.
• Not be the same user as the Referrer and have no records of fraud or other misconduct on Airbnb.

How many friends can I refer?

You can refer as many friends as you like, but you can only earn rewards for up to 10 successful referrals per calendar year. Even after reaching this limit, your friends can still register and receive their coupon.

How long is the referral link valid?

Your referral link is valid for 72 hours after it’s generated. If your friend doesn’t use it within that time, the link will expire, and you’ll need to send a new link.

What do my friends get from when they sign up?

Your friends will receive an Airbnb coupon for their first booking. They can view the coupon details, including amount and usage rules, in their account under “Profile > Payments & Payouts > Credits & Coupons.”

What qualifies as a successful referral?

A successful referral happens when your friend:

• Makes a booking that meets or exceeds the minimum amount specified for their country within 180 days of creating an account.
• Completes their stay (the booking must not be canceled).

How can I get and use Referral Rewards?

When your friend completes a successful referral, you’ll earn travel credits. These credits:

• Are valid for 1 year from the date they’re issued.
• Can be used for future stays or Experience bookings on Airbnb.
• Are automatically applied to bookings, but you can manage them on the payment page.
• Can be stacked with other discounts, but not with coupons from the Guest Referral Program or gift cards.
• Cannot exceed 15% of the total payment amount per booking.

Why didn’t I get travel credit when my friends completed their first trip?

There could be several reasons:

Eligible countries: The friends you referred may not be in one of the eligible countries, which are China, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Mexico.

Non-qualifying first trip: Their first trips might not meet the Qualifying Booking criteria. A Qualifying Booking must:

• Reach a specified minimum amount.
• Be made within 180 days of creating an account.
• Be accepted by a Host, paid for by your friends themselves, and completed without any cancellations.

Maximum Referrals Reached: You may have already reached the maximum limit of 10 Successful Referrals per calendar year.

When will I receive my Referral Rewards?

Referral Rewards are automatically sent to your account, typically within ten days after your friends’ qualifying trip is completed.

Where can I check my Referral Rewards?

You can view your Referral Rewards balance and usage details under “Profile > Payments & Payouts > Credits & Coupons.”

What if I need to cancel or change a booking that used Referral Rewards?

If you cancel a booking, the system will first return the Referral Rewards to your account. Depending on the booking’s cancellation policy, the Rewards may not be fully refundable.

Can I share my referral link anywhere?

Referral links should be shared only with personal connections, like friends and family. Avoid posting your link on public forums or coupon sites.

What if I think there’s an error with my Referral Rewards balance?

If you believe there is an error in your Referral travel credit balance, please contact us. Airbnb may require you to submit relevant proof to confirm the balance.

Are there any tax responsibilities regarding my referral travel credit?

Tax liabilities arising from receiving or using Referral travel credits are your sole responsibility. Similarly, tax liabilities from receiving or using an Airbnb coupon are the responsibility of the Referred User. Airbnb may collect taxes on services redeemed using Referral Rewards and/or coupons where applicable.

Can Airbnb change or end the referral program?

Airbnb may change or end the Guest Referral Program at any time without prior notice. However, any rewards or coupons already issued will still be valid according to the terms in place when they were issued
