SEE YOU in 2020

Holy Month will be between April 25th&21st May

Ramadan is the holy month for muslims (Ramazan in turkish), the Sultan of the Months of the Lunar Calendar!
It is a month of fasting and pray and spirituality.
But it is also a month of festivity, grand eating, nights out in the street. A month for the family. A month for sharing.

Come and join a full Ramazan eperience.
As the sunset approaches the crowd rushes to openair restaurants or shared tables in squares and gardens, for the Iftar (fast breaking).
We will join them and wait for the ritual time, when everybody hears the "cannon ball" and the muezzin's call from the mosque and ....after the long day of fast people finally can eat and drink, a strange silence falls on the crowd, you can hear only the sound of forks and spoons...
As a non-muslim i can assure you it is emotional. I strongly invite you to have this experience, with me or without, as you happen to be in Istanbul during this special month. As the evening falls we will walk around as all the sweetshops and cafes and teahouse of the neighborhood are open and full, as the children play, the adults pray, and the festive night just folds out
Fast is not required obviously
Other things to note
Look for my other experiences scheduled on the same day: they are different and programmed to let you make them consecutively

I am a home chef and gourmet. Actually, I am working as an academician in university here in Istanbul
I love this city, know it well and love to share. I love the history, the peoples, the foods.
Besides managing our own Airbnb houses and leading a few interesting and appealing "experiences" I also guide several cultural and culinary Walking Tours as a private guide to the discovery of hidden gems and secret monuments of this wonderful fascinating city. Please feel free to ask for more about it, if interested

Каде ќе бидете

This experience can be in different places.
Be it at Fatih, Yavuz Selim, Suleymaniye, Eyup areas.
Yet we can say the pattern is:
- meet one hour before the Iftar
- small talk of introduction about Ramadan in general and in Turkey
- find our place and wait
- at the ritual time have dinner
- visit the big historical mosque of the area
- as the prayer of the evening starts, move out, walk around, drink ÇAY (tea)

Miko was wonderful and accommodating at the last minute when we arrived and I thought to look for Istanbul experiences. Book this one with him now if you are thinking of it! Truly a unique experience to gain insight into a sacred ritual during Ramadan on the grounds of the biggest mosque in Instanbul at sun down. We learned so much from Miko who is incredibly knowledgeable and the whole experience is one neither my partner or I will ever forget. Miko is personable and answered all questions, truly gave us an insider’s view to Iftar. The cherry on top was the rooftop view of the city afterwards! And helping us get home after miles and miles is walking this wonderful city. You’ll regret it if you don’t book with Miko!

Miko is a charming host. Being an Italian expat living in Istanbul for almost 20 years, he has an interesting perspective on the city and country. He chose a lokantsci outside the Süleymaniye Mosque for our breaking of fast with hundreds of others during Ramazan was a very unique experience I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience!

An amazing experience. Miko knows the city, the culture, the history, and how it all culminates into the city of Istanbul. You will hear interesting stories, taste delicious foods, and get a unique perspective into a culture that cannot be easily found elsewhere, and participate in it as well. Highly recommended, compared to many of the other AirBnb experiences that I have done.
